Department of Students’ Career Development, Culture and Sport

The department comprises Career Development and Support Service, Culture and Sport Service, Students’ Electronic Resource Management Service. The listed services ensure the adequate operation of the related functions.  

The key functions of the Department of Students’ Career Development, Culture and Sport comprise the following:

  1. To protect the university students’ rights and legal interests as well as provide consulting services related to the process of education;
  2. To administer  the Study Process Electronic Management System (later “the System’);
  3. To administer and manage the Students’ Portal (www.portal.bsu.edu.ge);
  4. To provide support to the students in the implementation of the university activities; prepare  various social projects in this regard as well as support the realization of them;
  5. To promote and organize the university educational, scientific, cultural and sports activities and support the implementation (planning and implementation of the creative university intellectual/scientific/educational and charity activities);
  6. To present the initiatives of the university sport teams, music ensembles and creative groups; support in the realization as well as coordination of the related activities;
  7. To develop the university sport, promote sport, organize sports events/universiades; reveal gifted student and support them in taking part in the regional and republican universiades and the student days in the BSU name;
  8. To establish the relevant contacts for the harmonious development of the university students and bring them into the space of art; take care about the students’ involvement in the creative activities based on their talents and willingness;
  9. To obtain information about the various competitions ongoing in the field of education, projects and programmes; introduce them to the students;
  10. To support the students in development of the general skills necessary for their employment; inform the students on the dynamics and prospects of the labor market; plan and implement various events to support the students’ employment  as well as close cooperation with the employers with the objective to make them get closer to the education process and ensure their involvement in the implementation of the educational programmes in future;
  11. To support the students in rooting their education and career correctly and collaborate with the employers;  
  12. To cooperate with the organizations (public, non-governmental or international organizations) working on the labor market and employment as well as exchange the information with the aim to encourage the students’ employment; 
  13. To ensure support to the students with special needs with the aim to integrate them in the university life; introduce the related proposals to the administration of the university;
  14. Other functions defined by the Law of Georgia and other university acts;

3. Students’ Electronic Resource Management Service administers the Electronic Management System of the Education Process in coordination with the faculties of BSU, the Service of the Study Process, Quality Assurance Service and the IT Service based on the consideration of the functions of the listed structural units.

4. To administer the Electronic Management System of the Education Process, the Students’ Electronic Resource Management Service:

a) Digitalizes the main part (ID/passport, contract, school-leaving certificate diploma/certificate, photo, decision on the qualification award, acts on suspension/cancelation of the status, etc.) of the students’ personal records;

b. Ensures the students’ academic and administrative registration processes (fulfillment of the financial obligations) management in coordination with the faculties and the Financial-Economic Department of the BSU;

c. Creates and uploads electronically the university timetables for the study process in coordination with the BSU faculties and the Study Process Service;

d. Administers and manages the students’ portal www.portal.bsu.edu.ge in accordance with the rules defined by the Ordinance of the BSU Rector;   

e. Processes the information of the students involved in the BSU exchange programme and maintains the related data base;

The department has a close cooperation with the Students’ Self-government and other student organizations, initiative groups and the students’ serial publications.
