The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Georgia, Viktoria Horvath and Deputy Ambassador Aniko Parkash met Prof. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University as well as Prof. Tamar Siradze, Deputy Rector and Head of the Department of Strategic Development and Internal Relations Mr. Giorgi Tavamaishvili. The parties talked about the importance of concluding Memorandum of Understanding between the Higher Education Institutions as well as implementation of joint projects. Moreover, it was planned to organize the scientific conference and the exhibition to display Hungarian Art. In the frame of the visit the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps met the students and introduced the exchange programmes to them.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Georgia Mr. Antonio Enrico Bartoli visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The representative of the Diplomatic Corps and Prof. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of BSU spoke about the importance of cooperation between the countries in the field of education and culture as well as inclusion of the Italian Language in the Educational Programme. The parties agreed on planning and implementation of the joint study and research projects. In the frame of the visit the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Georgia Mr. Antonio Enrico Bartoli met the BSU students to introduce them to the conditions of studying in Italian Higher Education Institutions as well as the relevant exchange programmes. The meeting was followed by the questions from the students. The representative of the Diplomatic Corps responded to the actual questions asked by the students.

Partner of the Hotel Network, German expert of the Industry of Hospitality, Prof. Stephan Gerhard has visited the Faculty of Tourism at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in the context of mutual cooperation.

German expert will be conducting series of Master class in “International Hotel Management”. Prof. Stephan Gerhard will select 10 students from the Faculty and Tourism who will be paying, by the support of the Professor, one week visit to Germany to get introduced to the activities of Brad hotels in Berlin and Hamburg in December. Professor Stephan Gerhard is the partner of the Hotel Network “Arosa” in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.

An International School of Gerontology and Geriatrics has been opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The objective of the event is to get introduced to and popularize the available contemporary achievements in the field of the processes and mechanisms of ageing. Four-day School envisages teaching/learning new methods of treatment of the diseases associated with ageing and sharing the relevant experience. Researchers in Biology, medicine, social sciences and the field of the service and care of the ageing people as well as the experts and the students will be introduced to the fundamental concepts of Gerontology, the issues of the social conditions of the old people from various countries and the social packages. The teaching/learning process will be led by the leading experts and researchers of the field from Georgia, Austria and Malta. In the frame of the seasonal school, a Charitable Medical Action will be arranged in the Hospital in Khulo (one of the mountainous regions of Ajara) on October 25.

Rosaria Puglisi, Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia held a meeting with the students of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The representative of the international organization and the students discussed the actual issues such as: NATO-Georgia relations and the dynamics, Black Sea Security, practical involvement of NATO in Georgia and the current projects and the outcomes of the NATO Summit in Brussels. At the end of the event Rosaria Puglisi answered the questions of the students.
