Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosts the first International Conference “Multicultural Space of the Eastern Europe”. The conference aims at outlining, analyzing and evaluating the research tendencies of the intercultural dialogue, mutual influence, language and linguistic policy, literature, translation, the past and the modern times of interrelations of cultures and other up-to-date interdisciplinary trends as well as sharing contemporary methods. The international session also envisages the development of the young researchers’ scope, encouragement of research of the contemporary directions and development of the professional relations. The conference will encourage carrying out interdisciplinary research in new directions in the field of language and culture, introduction to the research methods, sharing experiences, defining the potential of the joint research and the scientific-creative dialogues.

Prof. Manana Tandashvili, Head of the Department of Cucasiology at the University of Goethe Frankfurt has been awarded the status of the honorable Doctor by the Academic Board of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. Prof. Manana Tandashvili contributed a lot for the development of BSU. Due to her input Summer School in Digital Humanities was established in BSU in 2012. Moreover, additional educational programme was created in the same direction in 2015, while in 2016 the Centre of Digital Humanities was established. The grant project “Lingvocultural Digital Archive” financed by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, is being implemented in BSU under the leadership of the famous linguist. The project aims at establishing Lingvocultural Digital Archive of the University as well as creating technological and methodological framework. Bilingual web-page DigiArchive has been already created in the frame of the project.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is hosting the International Scientific-practical Conference “Youth Entrepreneurship in Eastern Partnership Countries: Experience of Formation and the Prospects of Development”. The two day conference has been opened in the frame of Erasmus+ project “Higher Education Institutions for the Youth Entrepreneurship” the aim of which is to support young entrepreneurs, investigate the existing problems and look for the ways of solution. Georgian, Ukrainian, Armenian, Belarusian and Moldavian participants of the session will be presenting the papers in six directions.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is hosting IX International Conference of the Georgian Mathematical Union. The four-day scientific forum aims at presentation of the advanced research achievements and the results of the research carried out during the last year. About 200 researchers from 17 countries will present their papers on the issues of the dynamically developing sectors of Mathematics. The conference is organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Georgian Mathematical Union, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the University of Georgia.

On the 27th of August 2018 LEPL –Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University was awarded the authorization by the Authorization Board of HEIs. The process of authorization was implemented with the involvement of Georgian as we as International experts. The University was evaluated based on seven updated standards and procedures. The conclusion of the Authorization Board reflected the following strong sides of the University: big potential for development, orientation on future, continuous activity in the context of reforms, increasing the costs for effectiveness of the University, involvement of the students in the research projects, development and support of the student services, proactive and innovative approach for expanding laboratories and clinics.
