North Atlantic Treaty Organization Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with students of Georgian institutions of higher education. The students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Mikhail Benia, Anna Nikabadze Soso Makaradze and Mary Makharadze attended the meeting with the NATO Secretary General.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg talked about the new challenges of the NATO, response mechanisms and the chronology of cooperation with Georgia and its further development. The meeting was organized as a question-answer session.

BSU Honorary Doctor, French Kartvelologist, Professor Charles Renee visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Summer School ‘Week of Languages with BSU’ within the framework of the project. The French Professor met the summer school participants together with the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Marina Giorgadze and talked about the Georgian culture. The French Kartvelologist also emphasized the importance of studying French language and asked students about their professional plans.
The French scholar of the Kartvelian Studies gave the Summer School participants beneficial advice and had a practice in communication.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosts the VII International Conference ‘Continuum Mechanics and Analysis of the Related Problems’. The International Conference is jointly organized by the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the Georgian Union of Mathematicians and the Georgian Mechanical Union and is devoted to the 125th anniversary of the famous Georgian mathematician and engineer N. Muskheliashvili.
The International Conference ‘Continuum Mechanics and Analysis of the Related Problems’ presented many branches of mathematics and mechanics. Over 200 participants from the Georgian and international universities will dwell upon the theory of probability and statistics, algebra, typology, geometry, and number theory.
The scholars’ forum will continue until September 9 and will facilitate the expansion of the scientific relations among the mathematicians and the doctoral students as well as the international cooperation.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University launched ‘Batumi Summer University - Nuclear Safety and Non-proliferation: Global Challenges and Opportunities” in partnership with the organizers: Civil Council on Defense and Security (Tbilisi, Georgia) and sponsored by the Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
The Summer University intends to raise awareness among the university professors and the experts in the area about the international nuclear non-proliferation and security issues. The second goal of the Summer University is to set up a network of experts in the field in the Black Sea region and to facilitate its development.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Rector Merab Khalvashi hosted Malopolska government delegation, Poland. The delegation headed by Wojciech Kozak, Vice Marshal of the Malopolska region were introduced to the history of BSU, the educational programs, and the projects of international cooperation. The Rector emphasized on the already established
cooperation with the University of Silesia and the running joint projects.
