The Head of the Social Affairs Department of the US Embassy Jeffry Reno visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. Mr. Merab Khalvashi the Rector of the University, the Deputies Mrs. Tamar Siradze and Mrs. Natia Tsiklashvili and the deans introduced the representative of the diplomatic body to the education programmes, the history, the strategy of development, priorities of the university and the projects implemented with the support of the US Embassy.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Adjara government, Georgian Anesthesiology, Rheumatology School, Critical Medicine Union and Tbilisi State Medical University jointly organized International Conference on Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy. The conference is held at the hotel Sheraton Batumi. The conference participants include medics and nurses working in anesthesiology, reanimatology, emergency medicine, obstetrics, pulmonology and other fields are participating in the sessions. Within three days 350 representatives of 15 countries will discuss problems and international achievements in the field.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University organized annual international summer school "EU Law and European Integration".
The aim of the Summer School is to establish Adjara a traditional regional center of European law, where experts, researchers and students of EU law will hold educational forums.
During the week both local and international students will be able to discuss core issues such as: "Minority Rights Framework of EU Law", "Interpretation of the internal market and the rights of minorities in the European Union", "Fundamental Rights of the European Union`s Charter", "transnational political signs in Europe and South Caucasus The violet "," EU Charter of fundamental rights and internal constitution, "etc.
The annual summer school participants include 25 representatives from 6 countries (19 international and 6 Georgian students, including 4- Universities of Batumi). The students come from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine, Estonia, Turkey and Romania participate in the traditional summer school.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University held trainings within the Summer School "Research in Social Sciences" The one-week summer school aims at facilitating professors and researchers working in social sciences to improve the essential professional skills and improve the quality of research and pedagogic activities. The summer school strives to create a unified research space adapted to international standards in Georgia, the center of which will be located in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The academic and research personnel involved in the preparation and implementation of the project will work on elaboration of the joint strategic plan
The target group of the summer school come from four high schools of Georgia - Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Akaki Tsereteli State University, Gori State Teaching University and Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University professors and scholars who teach, explore and publish papers in social sciences.
The Summer School “Research in Social Sciences“ was sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The school was organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University with the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University acting as a co-organizer.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted Terry Burte, Attaché of the French Embassy for the University and Research Cooperation and Professor Herve Chappert, Head of the Faculty of Tourism at Montpellier University. BSU Rector Merab Khalvashi and representatives of the Tourism Faculty held a meeting with the guests.

The goal of the visit was initiation and launching BA and MA programs at the Tourism Faculty, BSU, jointly with the Montpellier University of France. The parties discussed the exchange programs for students and professors, and prospects of the dual diploma programs for PhD studies in management.
