Ambassador of Hungary to Georgia Anna Maria Shiko visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University within the framework of the Visegrad festival. At the meeting with the Rector of BSU, professor Merab Khalvashi, the representative of the diplomatic corps spoke about the existing relations between the two countries and focused on the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects. During the visit, the ambassador also met the students and introduced the program of the Visegrad festival to them. Under the auspices of the festival, Professor Chaba Hidnis gave a public lecture on the topic: "The meeting of 3 kings of Central Europe in Visegrad in 1335 and the issue of the introduction of defensive weapons in the Middle Ages"; Professor Jemal Karalidze presented a report on the topic: "International relations of Georgia in the 14th century".

Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi was visited by the delegation of Caucasus University of Kars. The members of the delegation met the Rector of the university, Professor Merab Khalvashi and the Head of Administration Nika Chkhartishvili and agreed on directions of future cooperation. They also talked about the scientific and cultural relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of joint research. It was planned to develop and implement joint educational programs. Within the framework of the visit, the Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Professor Merab Khalvashi, and the Rector of the Kars Caucasus University, Professor Husnu Kafu signed a memorandum of cooperation.

About 70 students of the Faculty of Tourism of BSU are going to Germany for inrternship. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of BSU, Tornike Rizhvadze, Chairman of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara and Maia KHajishvili, Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara congratulate the students on winning in the students’ project competition. During 3 months, students will go through practice in German high-class hotels and get to know the operation of all the main structural units of the hotel.International internship is being carried out within the framework of the memorandum signed between the International Institute of German Hospitality, Schwerin Baltic College of Germany and Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi, based on the program funding of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara (in the current year, students` educational practice in Germany was financed in the amount of 100,165 GEL).

The contest "My topic in 180 seconds" was held at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The French-speaking doctoral students of the higher educational institutions of Georgia presented a clear, concise and convincing presentation about their research topic to the audience in three minutes. According to the jury`s decision, the presentation of Natia Pailodze, a PhD student of TSU, was named the best, Ketevan Kusikashvili, a PhD student of TSU, took the second place, and Ana Kalandia, a PhD student of BSU, took the third place.The competition was held with the support of the University Agency of Francophonie AUF, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Ajara Tourism and Resorts Department, Ajara French Language Teachers Association and the French Institute of Georgia.

The head of the French-Georgian Institute, David Tertri, and the head of the Francophonie University Agency, AUF, Muhammad Ketata, visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. At the meeting with Professor Merab Khalvashi, the Rector, David Tertri spoke about the details of the development and implementation of the joint master`s education program in tourism. Within the framework of the visit, the initiative of the Vande Catholic Institute, which provides the opportunity of participation of the BSU students and academic staff in exchange programs, joint research projects and summer schools, was also presented.
